Apple has released its latest version of iOS – the operating system that powers iPhones and iPads – which will debut alongside iOS 12.1 at WWDC ahead of commercial release in October. The new version is called iOS 13, which supports all devices except the iPhone 5s and iPad Air
Ultimately, Apple’s upcoming releases will likely be focused on fixing and improving iOS and iPadOS, but the new betas are also testing a few nice additions to the operating system
iOS 15.2 / iPadOS 15.2 beta 4 and earlier include a few small updates, such as App Privacy Report and “Legacy Contact” feature (which lets you add someone to keep track of your digital decedents’ subscriptions or other entitlements). You can now find AirTags when scanning for them, set Hide My Email for additional groups, get new email alerts, and enjoy child safety features for Messages. One of those child safety features was previously known as the controversial privacy-invading feature originally announced alongside iOS 15 who’s future remains uncertain.
The latest versions of iOS 15.2 beta 4 and iPadOS 15.2 beta 4 releases are now available to download as a developer or public beta! Go to Settings > General > Software Update in order to install these updates immediately.
The updated non-beta system software versions for any iPhone or iPad device are iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1. For users of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12, iOS 15.1.1 is an option and Mac users running macOS Monterey 12.0 on their computers can choose from two betas: macOS Mojave 12.0 and macOS Mojave 12.0.4 beta 2
